Day Thirty-one from Melissa - Greenwich

Our week for the dinner crew started today. Basically, there's seven of us who set up breakfast and dinner and clean up afterwards. It's fairly straightforward, although it eats into our time somewhat.

Speaking of breakfast, let me introduce you to my favorite yogurt.

You peel off the top.

And tip the little cake balls into the yogurt.

Then you stir it in. It's very good!

After breakfast Miriam and I went to Greenwich for an assignment. We took the underground and then switched to the overground. If that's a word.

This was the station.

Very grand.

When we got off the DLR (overground), we ended up in a really pretty park by the Thames.

There was a tunnel enterenve nearby that runs under the river to the other side.

This is under the Thames!

Anyway, we walked through this lovely little town and ate freshly caught mackerel with crab tartar sauce. It was very interesting, but good. Their tartar sauce is different from ours, I think.

Then we went through the Royal Naval College grounds. If you've ever seen Thor: The Dark World (I haven't), you may recognize it as the location for the culminating battle sequence.

Then we went to the Prime Meridian!  All my photos of me are on my camera, but here's the line. The red ball on the top of the tower behind it is a time keeper as well.

The Prime Meridian is 0 latitude, as well as the dividing line between the east and west hemispheres.

Of course I stood on it!

I thought this was great. Below the clock, you'll see metal bars. They're the definitions of a measurement system that they no longer use, but we do!  Three feet, two feet, foot, three inches.

Then we had dinner. Tacos, which were good, but had a lot of dishes that took forever to clean.

Their salsa is not spicy. It tastes like tomatoes with cilantro chopped into it, which is pretty much exactly what it is.

Then we went shopping. There are lots of fancy stores here. I didn't get anything but this picture.

Look closely in the background to the right of the picture. Can you see the flying mannequins?  They're strung up in strings from the ceiling so they look like they're floating over your head. Very different.

And then bed!  Where I actually fell asleep twice while trying to write this, which is why it's the next day now that I'm finishing it up.

Bye!
