Day Four from Miriam

Today was TOWER OF LONDON DAY!!!!

We got there and could see the Shard (the tallest building in the EU).

We could also see the Tower Bridge across the Thames.

The white tower!!

A memorial on the spot where the most famous prisoners (such as Anne Boleyn and Lady Jane Grey) were executed.

Traitors' Gate, where newcomers were brought in by boat. Like in Harry Potter, except not in a good way...

The courtyard of the Tower with the Tower Bridge in the background. In the bottom right, you can see the black rookeries where the 7 ravens are kept. Legend says there must be 6 ravens in the Tower at all times or the Crown and Britain will fall, so they always keep 6 plus a spare.

Inside the Tower, I found him. My knight in shining armor. I always knew he was out there somewhere! *happy sigh*

These are wooden faces of the kings from a long time ago. Not sure how much they look like the actual kings, but it's fun to imagine...

Oh, and the fattest one in the middle is King Henry VII. I will spare your eyes and not show you a picture of his armor. You're welcome.

The Tiffany Revolver. Yes, in their armory they actually have a bejeweled revolver made for them by Tiffany & Co. in New York.

In their armory, they also have the longstanding tradition of creating displays with their weapons. Really, really fancy displays. Like, a dragon.

Annnnnnnnd... I FOUND AN ADORABLE GUARD!!!!

Also, a king once had his bedroom in the tower. Just living in a fancy room in a big, scary fortress. No big deal.

This is a re-creation of what the coronation throne may have once looked like.

Me and the tower. Also, a random golden sheep. Because reasons.

The Tower of London, et al. How would you like to come upon this sight knowing you would spend the rest of your life here? *shudder*

A bit of ancient Roman wall. Just sitting here. Minding its own business.

Then, we went on our first ride on a red double-decker bus!!!!

At first it was scary being twice as high as usual and on the wrong side of the street, but once we got over the scariness it was really exciting! We were diverted for a bit because of a May Day parade, so we got to ride down by the Thames for a short while.

We caught our first sight of St. Paul's!

I was just so excited about the bus. There are no words. Dreams come true.
